Bull President Arturas Karnisovas on Lauri Markkanen: “Our goal is to get the best version of him next year.”
Lauri Markkanen and the Chicago Bulls had a pretty disappointing season before the NBA break. Markkanen experienced one statistical decline in each categoryAfter the best season of his early second year career.
According to Arturas Karnisovas, president of the Bulls for basketball, the team “wants to get the best version of him next season”.
“We spoke to Lauri several times. He was very patient and stayed on the market. His family is now with him,” said Karnisovas on End-of-year conference call via NBC Sports.
“I spoke to him about the past year. He strives to go back to the gym and improve. He was disappointed with the overall result (last season). Every player wants to win. He also wants to win. Our goal is to get the best version of Lauri next year. We have agreed in talks that this is our goal and we will try to do so. “
The young striker from Finland can sign an extension of the contract with the Chicago Bulls in the coming off-season.
With the bulls excluded from the 22 team recovery plan, Karnisovas will have time to find ways to improve the current roster, including Markkanen.
“We’re going to have pretty high expectations,” Karnisovas said of NBC Sports. “And it’s about improvement. Every player who spoke to him was disappointed with last year’s result:” We will try to get better. The same goes for Lauri. We have plenty of time this off-season. We’ll put together a plan for him. We will plan and do that. “
