Boston Celtics guard Kemba Walker is limited to 18-20 minutes in the team’s first “seeding game” on July 31 against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Despite the minute restrictions, head coach Brad Stevens said Walker was “maybe a little bit earlier than planned,” said The Athletic’s Jay King.
Stevens also said that he plans to extend Walker’s minutes so that by the end of the “seeding games” he is on the right track to play almost the full workload.
Walker also spoke about the minute limit that he will meet.
“It’s frustrating. It’s the first time in my career that I’ve had to go through this, so it’s difficult.” Walker said about Jared Weiss from The Athletic. “But I will make it. I know what it is about … I work every day to prepare myself to play big minutes in the future.”
The goal will be to have Walker 100 percent for the Celtics playoff push.
