Clippers’ Doc Rivers shows a reaction after Donald Sterling tapes leaked
Doc Rivers revealed his reaction after finding out that the racist recordings of the then owner of Los Angeles Clippers, Donald Sterling, had been released.
At the time (April 25, 2014), the Clippers were preparing for Game 4 of their first round against the Golden State Warriors.
“I go to the meeting and of course none of the players wore their jerseys. And they didn’t want to hear me … I remember that I stopped and said these words: “Guys, I want to remind you of something. My name is Glen Rivers. I am from Chicago and I am black. And I am angry And our owner is a racist.
And I don’t want to do anything for this man. But when I was growing up and I had this dream of winning a World Cup, Donald Sterling was never in that dream. And I’m not going to let him stand in the way of something I’ve wanted since childhood. He shouldn’t have part of it, “said Rivers about Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints to Ernie Johnson of TNT.
