Damian Lillard is firmly convinced that he will not be suitable for games if his Portland Trail Blazers do not offer an opportunity to fight the playoffs, provided the NBA resurrects the 2019/20 season.

The league, which plays a handful of games to get the teams to hit the 70-game mark and meet regional TV deals, remains an option, but Lillard says he won’t be out on the pitch for games unless he can fight for a place in the playoffs.

“When we come back and they just say,” We’re adding a few games to end the regular season, “they kick us out for meaningless games and we don’t have a real chance of getting involved in the playoffs I will with my team be together because I’m part of the team, but I’m not going to participate, ”said the guard Yahoo Sports by phone on Tuesday morning. “I’m just telling you. And you can say that [expletive] in there.”

The blazers currently occupy 9th place in the Western Conference with a 29-37 record and are 3.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for eighth playoff place. It would be fair to have teams outside of the first eight seed struggles, but the NBA could simply choose to let teams play as few games as possible.

However, Lillard is fairly confident about his team’s prospects of making it into the off-season if given a fair opportunity.

“If we come back and I have no opportunity to play the playoffs, I will show up for work, I will train and I will be with my team.” I will do it all [expletive] and then I’m going to sit on that bench during the games, ”he continued. “When they come back and say it’s like a play-in style tournament between seeds # 7 and # 12 when we play for playoff seats, I think it’s perfect.”

The league is expected The campaign will restart at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida in late July. The season was interrupted on March 11 after the Utah Jazz Center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19.
