J.R. Smith, the newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers, announced that, like many other players, he began his career on the Inside The Green Room podcast, moderated by his teammates Danny Green and Harrison Sanford, as Michael Jordan wanted to be.

Jordan won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and is widely recognized as the greatest basketball player of all time. To be like him is, of course, a difficult task, to say the least.

Although he originally wanted to play for North Carolina in the NCAA to follow Jordan’s path, Smith admitted that he never liked college basketball and instead opted for a draft.

It didn’t take Smith long to realize that he wasn’t going to be the next MJ. “My first year,” said Smith when asked when it happened. “The first day at Byron Scott training camp plunged us into the ground. I’ll never be like Mike “
