Jeff Van Gundy is still concerned about the restart of the NBA season in Orlando on July 31.
The former NBA head coach wonders how the league and players will react if a player tests positive for the virus.
“At the moment we underestimate the fear of [a player potentially contracting the virus]. For the players in the team of the man, for the players who have played or will play against this team or who will play against this team. I’m not sure we know – because I know I don’t know if this fear will be bigger than I expected, less than I expected.
And what if, God forbid it happened to one of our star players? It is one thing if it happens to a 12th man for competitive reasons, but also because of the amount of fear that drives him. What if it happens to one of the best players in the league? Van Gundy told Stefan Bondy from the Daily News.
