John Stockton’s Clutch Shot sent jazz to the 1997 NBA final on that day
John Stockton pressed a 3-pointer to the buzzer to lift his Utah Jazz past Houston Rockets 103-100 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals. The street win won the series and sent Utah to the NBA final for the first time.
The series was consistently tight, as was Game 6.
Stockton was two points behind and time was running out. Stockton hit a floater to end the game by 22.4 seconds.
Houston failed on goal and with 2.8 seconds ahead the game was a draw at 100 apiece and the jazz hit the ball. Stockton opened and kicked a 3-pointer on the buzzer to silence the crowd in Houston.
Stockton was unstoppable in Game 6. He ended up with 25 points, 13 templates and two steals.
Karl Malone was also excellent for Utah in Game 6. He ended the game with 24 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks.
