JR Smith becomes the best person to replace Lakers Avery Bradley
Free agent guard JR Smith has become the best candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers to replace Avery Bradley’s roster and restart Orlando.
Smith has withdrawn from the NBA in the past two years.
Rob Pelinka, president of the Lakers basketball business, and Rich Paul, Smith’s agent Klutch Sports, are discussing a possible agreement on Tuesday night and hope to speak again on Wednesday.
The Lakers’ top seed is looking for players in the market to replace Bradley, who is their starting point guard.
Bradley decided to withdraw after taking family as the primary consideration.
If they decide to go that route, the Lakers can give up Bradley to make room for Smith’s signing.
The 34-year-old Smith (Smith) last played an NBA game in the fourth game of the 2018 NBA Finals in the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Before the team decided to sign with Dion Waiters, he worked in Los Angeles.
As of now, Alex Caruso and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will resolve the burden left by Bradley, and Waits and Rajon Rondo added more veteran depth to the bench.
The NBA team’s trading window will continue until July 1, allowing the team to sign free agents before heading to Orlando.
JR Smith is a 15-year veteran of the St. Benedict Reserve.
He was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in 2004 and has played in New Orleans, Denver, New York and Cleveland.
Smith won the championship with LeBron James and Cavs in 2016, and was named the sixth man of 2013 by the Knicks.
