Kawhi Leonard impressed with Zion Williamson’s game against Pelicans
Kawhi Leonard believes Zion Williamson played great against his Los Angeles Clippers despite the defeat.
The New Orleans Pelicans have lost both opening games in Orlando, fell on Utah Jazz in the first game of the NBA’s official restart on Thursday and won another Loss against the clippers on Saturday.
Williamson scored seven points in 14 minutes on Saturday and was a minus 17 on the ground, shooting 3-of-7 and making three sales. Still, he did just enough to praise Kawhi Leonard, who scored 24 points and six rebounds and five assists.
“I thought he played great,” said Leonard via Joe Vardon of The athlete. “He’s a very energetic guy. He plays to win. I’m not sure if he has a minute limit or not. I haven’t really seen him.”
Pelican’s head coach Alvin Gentry is pretty conservative with Zion’s minutes, but may be forced to keep his rookie at a distance early enough, as his team is at risk of going home early after losing the first two of his eight seeding games .
