Kendrick Perkins: “The guy I saw closest to Anthony Davis was Kevin Garnett.”
Former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins greatly appreciates Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis. In a recent interview, he spoke about AD’s capabilities and the closest comparison he has seen.
According to Perkins, there is only one player Davis resembles in skills and style of play: Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett. Despite similarities, the 27-year-old striker is “one of one,” says Perkins.
“He’s a guy we’ve never seen before. He’s one of a kind. He’s a talent of the generation. In my opinion, Kevin Garnett was the closest man to Anthony Davis when you look at all the work, Both of them can do. Their grips, their fit, their shot block, the way they defend can change from 1 to 5. They bounce off at a high level. There are really no restrictions on their game. Both can be offensive Shoot 3. Both had post-moves. KG had post-moves. AD had post-moves. KG could push the stone. AD could push the stone. But AD is one of a kind. He’s a multi-generation talent. “
In his first season with the Lakers, the former Pelicans striker averaged 26.7 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, which helped Los Angeles finish first in the Western Conference.
