Mike Budenholzer was about to take over the New York Knicks in 2018 before hiring David Fizdale. According to Ian Begley of SNY.TV.Budenholzer was ready to pass the chance on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the dollars to train in “Big Apple”.

“The talks between the Knicks and Budenholzer in the off-season 2018 went so far that some people who would have come to New York with Budenholzer talked about living in the city because they thought Budenholzer was about to do so, according to SNY sources to take the job …

An official from an opposing team involved in searches at the time confirmed that the Knicks Budenholzer’s training was fascinating. “Bud was definitely interested,” said the team official recently, “Begley per said NBC Sports.

Nevertheless, the Arizona-born coach chose the safer way to get to a talented team with an aspiring superstar in the squad. Coach “Bud” forms the bucks into a title contender by creating a more modern offensive style.

On the other hand, the Knicks hired David Fizdale this season, but after almost a disappointing year in the East, they fired him last December.
