NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on resuming the season in empty arenas: “It sucks”
Adam Silver, NBA commissioner, said he doesn’t like the idea of continuing the season in empty arenas, but it seems that this is the only solution.
Due to the corona virus pandemic, it is inevitable that games will be played without fans if the league decides to continue the game.
“It sucks, but it can be our reality for a while. There may be a point where we can bring some of our fans back to where they sit in every other or third place.
Suppose a vaccine is not coming soon. Are there things we can do in our arenas where we may not have 19,000 people, but maybe 5,000 people? Maybe we can have 8,000 people? Maybe there are protocols that allow this? Silver said in a conference call with the players ESPN.
The NBA will make its final decision to resume the season within the next 2 to 4 weeks.
