NBA supposed to hold a dunk and three-point contest on the All-Star weekend?
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the NBA and NBPA are discussing the inclusion of a dunk and a three-point competition in the proposed All-Star game in Atlanta on the weekend of March 6-7.
Talks are ongoing about what the revamped All-Star would mean in 2021, but “the momentum picked up significantly last week”. Stein adds.
Last week the league and the NBPA started Discuss scenarios to have an All-Star game in Atlanta, home of Turner Sports, this season.
This idea also includes the support of the HBCU and the COVID-19 aid.
Chris Paul, the NBPA president, is in favor of an all-star game.
As early as November, the league announced that the All-Star game would take place in Indianapolis in 2021 postponed to 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The NBA All-Star Voting is currently open until February 16 at 11:59 pm. ET and it seems that the vote could be for an actual game rather than just a symbolic place on the All-Star teams.
