Pelicans are likely to start contract renewals with Lonzo Ball this summer
The New Orleans Pelicans are preparing to resume the season with all of their young stars available and healthy. Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball will be ready if the game continues.
While many questions remain for the resumption of the season, the stake for Lonzo Ball could be high, especially if the pelicans are about to start the playoff competition.
Shams Charania from The Athletic and Stadium told the Load management podcast that negotiations between Ball and New Orleans could begin this summer.
“I think Lonzo Ball will be in extra talks this summer. For Brandon Ingram, he has positioned himself as the maximum contract player. I don’t expect these talks to be so extensive,” said Charania per USA today.
The UCLA product achieved an average career high of 12.4 points as well as 7 assists and 6.3 rebounds. Ball will earn $ 11 million in its final season of its rookie deal next year. After that, he will be a restricted free agent in the 2020-21 off-season.
Since the New Orleans Pelicans are 3.5 games behind eighth placed Memphis, a good run in Orlando Lonzo Ball offers the chance to increase its value in order to achieve a big increase in its next contract.
