Sports analyst Chris Broussard recently revealed that the NBA is considering setting the playoffs again and not using conference seeds. Instead, the teams would be ranked based on their overall balance. He also pointed out that such a format change would open up the possibility of a Lakers-Clippers final. Broussard’s colleague Nick Wright is against the possible re-occupation of playoffs.

According to him, it would be unfair for teams like the Bucks, which both teams would have to go through in Los Angeles to win a championship. He also pointed out that the conference finale between the Lakers and Clippers in the west and between the Bucks and Raptors in the east would be much more interesting. This would not be the case if the Lakers were to play against Toronto, for example.

“That would be good for my husband, LeBron. But it’s about fairness. If the NFL in week 12 was: “We are adding a playoff team and the 2-seed is not getting goodbye.” That would be absolutely unfair. … This is another reason why people want to add an asterisk this season, ”Wright said.
