The Los Angeles Lakers guard, Rondo Raion, has a broken right thumb, is being operated on, and is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

The 34-year-old Rondo is to be operated on sometime this week.

If Rondo recovers during this six to eight week period, it would mean his return in late August or early September, which marks the end of the first round / start of the second round of playoffs.

The Lakers will now be more dependent on players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Alex Caruso, JR Smith and Dion Waiters.

I have a degree in journalism from the University of Maryland. I have loved basketball since I started playing at the age of 5. As I got older, the NBA and international players became my passion. Now I can write about it.
