Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis “weren’t a good couple,” says Jerry West
Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis weren’t a good couple, according to NBA legend Jerry West.
Curry and Ellis were teammates at the Golden State Warriors from 2009 to 2012, but the team then decided to act on Ellis.
“I think when a deal was made there he gave it [Curry] more space to do things and also have the ball in his hands. If you have someone who is really good at something and you do not have the ball in your hand or you have no players to compliment you, it is more difficult to achieve the excellence you have achieved.
Monta Ellis, a very popular player during my time up there, was traded and that opened up for me [Curry’s] Ability to become who he is today. I think it made him more confident. I think they weren’t a good couple and they were both great players, really great players.
But I think Steph was the person who had the greatest growth, and when Monta left, you see Steph Curry today, ”said West, a former Warriors manager, during his appearance on 95.7 The gameover NBC Sports.
