Texas will not announce the school’s renewal of contract with head coach Karen Aston on Friday. Aston led the project for eight seasons and ended with a total score of 184-83 (93-51, Big 12). In the past season, Longhorns ended 19-11 (11-7, Big 12) before the NCAA playoffs were shortened by the coronavirus pandemic. Her contract is valid until August 31, 2020.

Del Conte said: “This is a very difficult decision due to the expiration of Aston ’s contract, and we have considered it carefully, but decided not to extend it.” “For Aston coaches are the University of Texas and We are deeply grateful for everything the Texas Women ’s Basketball Program has done. She is as committed as the staff. She has been fully committed to our program and everyone involved has been in it for eight years. We have Successful and challenging, through all of this, Coach Aston has always been a top-notch representative of UT. She is a dedicated coach and a special person. After evaluating and reviewing our plan position and discussing the future, we decided to move Moving in different directions, our continuous goal is to fight for the championship and NCAA elite status.
“For our student athletes, staff, messengers, fans, alumni and donors, we are aware of the challenges of making changes in this particular spring, but there has never been an appropriate time to make such difficult decisions. We We believe that moving forward and establishing a new direction for the 2020-21 season is in the best interests of our plan. “
