“The Cavs will continue to search for a capable replacement. 3. This probably won’t be the last step in this off-season. Garrison Matthews, Denzel Valentine and Svi Mykhailiuk are free agency options. Mykhailiuk, sources say, could join the Los Angeles Lakers on a minimum contract, ”wrote Fedor.
Mykhailiuk has played for the LA franchise. He was drafted by the 17-time NBA champion with the 47th pick in the 2018 draft. He spent the last three seasons of his career at OKC Thunder and the Detroit Pistons.
Last season, the Sniper Wing played 66 games, split between Detroit and OKC. He averaged 8.5 points per game at 41.1% shot from the ground in two young reconstruction teams.
Mykhailiuk could play a role in this season’s roster as the 13th man on the Lakers roster, but given the long season and the franchise’s decision to go with a veteran roster, the Shooting Guard could get more minutes all year round.
